• There are occasionally incidents of armed robberies, vehicle hijackings and pick pocketing. Areas popular with foreigners are particular targets and all travellers are strongly advised to keep their passport and other valuable items in a safe and secure location for the duration of their stay and should also avoid any obvious displays of affluence which could serve to attract unwanted attention. Incidents of rape have been reported in popular nightlife areas, as well as in private residences and all visitors should avoid travelling alone throughout the country after dark.
